Aside from being used to accept payments from people, Cash app can also be used to make payments for purchases at stores, or filling stations, etc. To do this, a card has to be connected to the cash app, and can be used to make payments at any place, as long as the card connected to it, is accepted there.
However, it is not every type of card that can be connected to cash app; there are cards that are compatible with cash app, while there are some types that are not. And it’s only the compatible ones that can be connected to cash app. Prepaid cards is a type of cards, and we shall be revealing if they can also be connected to cash app.
What Are Prepaid Cards?
Prepaid Cards are also known as a “stored-value card” whose value is solely on the card. This is a type of card that maintains itself and is not linked in any way to an external accounts which could be managed by a bank or some sort of a financial institution. Examples of this type of cards are gift cards and phone cards.
What Prepaid Cards Work With Cash App?
Unfortunately, prepaid cards do not work with Cash App. This means that you cannot connect a prepaid card to Cash App, to make payments for a product or a service rendered to you. Such prepaid cards include cards like Walmart gift cards, Amazon gift cards, Walgreens gift cards, phone Cards,  and a lot of other prepaid cards. However, there is a few type of cards that work with Cash App, and I will be revealing that in the next section.

The type of cards that can be connected to Cash App, are the credit cards (including the Cash card), debit cards and other branded cards such as Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and a lot of others. These cards can be connected to cash app, and used to make payments especially at any place that Visa card is accepted.
How To Link A Card With Cash App
The type of card that can be linked to cash app are credit or debit cards; which could be bank-owned or branded ones. Below are steps on how to link a card with Cash App.
- Open your Cash App mobile app.
- Log in to your Cash App account.
- On the dashboard, click on Menu.
- Click on card.
- Click on “Add Card”.
- Enter your new Credit card, debit card or any branded card details.
- Click on OK to confirm.
Are There Debit Cards Not Supported By Cash App
Yes, there are debit cards not supported by Cash App. Debit cards that are not enrolled by either MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express or any US bank, do not work with Cash App. Most times, these debit cards, their number are not always up to 16.
